OUR VISION:

We join together in order

TO KNOW CHRIST AND TO MAKE HIM KNOWN

in Goderich, Huron County and around the world

Rows of Pillars

OUR PILLARS:

How do we pursue our vision as a church family?

1) JESUS ABOVE ALL

At Calvary Baptist we gladly affirm the supremacy of Jesus Christ over absolutely everything! We worship a BIG and MAJESTIC SAVIOUR. Christ is the focal point of our gatherings and not just a quotable hero or an add-on to our personal success. We have a great need for Jesus every day and desire to grow together in our love for Him.

2) WE ARE GROUNDED IN THE WORD OF GOD

We believe God has spoken with absolute authority and truthfulness in His Word, the Bible. Everything we do as a local church must be governed by the Bible as we strive to build our whole lives on the sure foundation of God's unchanging Word.

3) WE ARE UNITED IN A MEANINGFUL GOSPEL-CENTERED COMMUNITY

God is pleased to save us by His amazing grace through His Son, Jesus Christ - and to join us into a supernatural community: the church. It is nothing less than God's special, redeeming and eternal love for His people that brings us together as a church family to worship God, love one another, grow in godliness, and hold each other accountable in our profession of faith.

4) WE ARE DEVOTED TO PRAYER

We want to be known in our community as a local church that firmly depends on God's will and His ways. Our faithfulness to Jesus is expressed in drawing near to our Father, asking him to enable us to walk in a manner worthy of Christ, fully pleasing to Him, and bearing much fruit in every good work.

5) WE ARE FOCUSED ON MISSION

We live in a fallen world that desperately needs to hear and believe the good news of Jesus' life, death and resurrection for sinners. At Calvary Baptist, we desire to be the collective presence of Jesus Christ to the world. God calls us to love our community here in Goderich/Huron County by sharing Christ in our neighbourhoods and workplaces. In addition, we partner with faithful missionaries in order to see the name of Jesus be made known around the world.

6) WE PURSUE ALL THINGS TO THE GLORY OF GOD ALONE... SOLI DEO GLORIA

As a church family, we have a common burden for God's glory. Everything we do together is driven by one supreme ambition: to see our great God, the sovereign Lord and King of all the world, be glorified through us. Our priorities, conduct and worship display our high view of our triune God - Father, Son and Spirit - who is forever worthy of all praise.

OUR COVENANT:

We are a local church, part of the global body of Christ, committed to meeting regularly for the purpose of worshiping God, Bible teaching, fellowship, prayer, encouragement and exhortation, and serving our community.

Our goal is to be united and at peace with one another, by the power of the Holy Spirit working in us. We seek to show love toward each other as the family of God by taking care of each other physically and emotionally with the physical resources and spiritual gifts we've been given. We work diligently to encourage and graciously challenge one another for the purpose of building each other up and becoming more mature in Christ. We strive to be known in surrounding communities for our love for each other and for others.

We are committed to praying, individually and corporately, for ourselves and others.

We pray, yearn, and work to be a loving example to those around us - in our homes and communities - so that they may know Jesus and His forgiveness, as we also have.

We rejoice with each other in times of happiness, share in each other's sorrows and burdens, and offer support as we each struggle with sin and weakness.

With the help of God and the support of one another, we live in such a way that shows we are Christ's disciples. We seek to abstain from sin, not to be haughty or proud, but as a means of acknowledging that our lives are lived in gratitude to Christ for who He is and what He has done for us.

We work together in Christian ministry, inside and outside of this building and formal meetings, so that our service in our church and in our community may continue strongly for as long as possible. We use our gifts, talents and strengths to do this with willingness and gratitude, always training, learning, and improving. As we are able, we contribute physically and financially to the various needs of our people, our facility, and our community, so that the Gospel of Christ can be spread locally and globally.
